So how that works?

To be able to edit the ebook cover design you need to press on the download button below, to download the psd file:

After you unzip the file that you download, you can see the layout that you will have there:

let’s start, open the file “free-ebook-cover.psd” from the zip file you downloaded.
After you opened the file it will get you in to photoshop and you will see in there the 3d ebook.
This is what it would look like:

You can see in the pictures below what each layer do:

After you know what each layer do press twice on the picture that on the layer that called front
(press only on the picture not on the name). As you can see in the picture below,

after doing so photoshop will open a new window with a flat ebook cover, in there we will make all the changes to the 3d layout,
the changes that you do in the flat layout will effect the 3d layout after you will save it.
You can now see the new window that photoshop opened in the picture below:

Do not close any one of the 2 windows because we will need both of them to stay open.
(we will get back to the free-ebook-cover.psd window in the end)
And this is ho the new window that photoshop opened look like:

in the middle this is the layout and on the right side the is the layer panel we will work with the layer panel.
You can check the 2 pictures to see what each layer do:

You can see in here what each layer effect on the ebook layout.
In number 9 you can delete the picture and put new one, or just put the new picture above that picture,
the picture that you put must be under the “author” layer.
In the picture below you can see how each one of the layers related to the layout,
The numbers in the picture above and in the picture below are the same for each part,
that way you can see what each layer change in the layout.

if you want to change the text press twice on the text box in the layer that you want to change
and write the text you want in there,

if you want to change the color of the text, select the text layer that you want to change,
then go to the tool bar and chose the “type tool” and then in the top part of photoshop you will see a color box showing up,
press on the box and then you can chose the new color that you want to use.
As you can see in the picture below in steps:

The layers that have a color box in the psd are backgrounds (like site background, headline, etc..).

You can change the backgrounds color of the texts layers, you need to press twice on the color box on the layer that
under the text layer, that will open you the color picker window. chose the color that you want and then press ok.

Now you need to change everything to create your own ebook cover.
After you changed everything you wanted and made your own ebook cover you need to save the document you can do that by
pressing the shortcut ctrl+s or or go to the file panel and press on save.

after saving we need to get back to the windows that I showed you on the start.
you need to press on “free-ebook-cover.psd” window,
as you can see in the picture below.

And then you will see how flat image changed In to the 3d layout. And if you didn’t like something on the 3d
layout just press again twice on the smart object and make the changes again, every time you will save the flat psd
it will save it on the 3d layout.
